The Essentials You Will Need For Working With Timber After Having Tree Removal Done

Posted on: 12 November 2015

While you may have had a tree cut down, there is likely still some work that needs to be done. You may plan on doing some of the work yourself, such as cutting up firewood, making your own mulch or milling rough lumber. To do these tasks safely, you will want to have the right equipment. Here is some of the essential equipment you will need for dealing with your tree removal debris:

1. Ensure Your Safety With The Proper Wear

Before you work with any tree debris, you will want to be prepared with the right clothing. You will want to have good boots with a hard toe. It is also important to wear long sleeve shirts and a good pair of thick pants. If you are going to be using a chainsaw, you may also want to have anti-cut pants that can protect your legs from accidents.

2. Be Prepared For Emergencies And Injury With First Aid

While having the right clothing can help you be safe, it may not prevent all types of accidents. It is important that you inform yourself of the dangers before working with trees. You will also want to have a good first aid kit with you when you are doing the work. This should include all the essential equipment for serious injuries like broken bones and cuts. You may also want to include a first aid guide and instructions for CPR.

3. Gather All The Right Equipment To Do The Work Safely

Having the right equipment can also help ensure safety when working with trees. If you are going to be doing trimming on other trees, it is important to have a good ladder. You will also want to have ropes and a winch if possible to make moving larger materials easier.

4. The Different Tools You Will Need For Different Tree Care Tasks

You will also want to have all the right tools for doing the work with trees. You will want to have good sharp axes and hatches for cleaning up materials. A good chain saw is also important, which you will want to make sure it is large enough and one you are comfortable working with. You can also invest in good wedges and other timber equipment to get the job done.

These are some of the essential things that you will need to deal with your tree removal debris. If you still have tree debris problems that you need help with, contact a tree removal service to do removal and other dangerous tasks for you.

Keeping Your Trees Healthy

About a year ago, I realized that our front trees were starting to look a little funny. Some of the leaves were wilted, but we weren't anywhere near autumn. The bark on the trunk also seemed to be rotting away, which was frustrating and disappointing. Fortunately, a friend of mine told me to call a professional arborist for help. He came out, inspected the trees, and injected some special pesticides into the trunk. Within a few months, they started to look a lot better. Our arborist also trimmed our trees to reduce the weight load on the branches and to improve their shape. Check out this blog for information about tree trimming.
