The Potential Dangers Of A Tick Bite

Posted on: 30 October 2017

No one likes the thought of being bitten by a bug or other pest. Unfortunately, however, some creatures do bite and bite regularly, and this includes ticks. Ticks are found in trees, bushes, and in the general outdoors. And, worst of all, their bites can carry many potential dangers. For this reason, it is smart to have your trees and your yard sprayed regularly to help prevent tick infestations. If you're still not convinced that this step is necessary, then consider the many dangers that can come with tick bites.

Allergic Reactions

It may surprise you to learn that some people are actually allergic to tick bites.

This means that a bite from one of these bugs could end in a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. These reactions could include difficulty breathing and a deadly condition known as anaphylactic shock.

While it is smart for everyone to have their yards sprayed to avoid dangers related to tick bites, it is especially important if you or someone you care about is allergic to tick bites. In fact, this case, spraying or not spraying could mean the difference between life and death.

Generalized Sickness

Even if a person is not allergic to tick bites, it is important to note that people can still experience illness as the result of a tick bite.

For instance, when some people are bitten by ticks, it can easily lead to flu-like symptoms. These include things like running a fever and throwing up. These symptoms can sometimes last for several weeks and, as one would expect, they can cause a lot of discomfort.

To avoid these symptoms happening to you or someone you love, you should work to prevent tick bites by spraying your yard and avoiding areas that are likely to be tick-infested. And, if a bite does still occur, the right medical attention and care can keep the bite from growing serious.

Lyme Disease

One of the most real and serious concerns associated with being bitten by a tick is Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a true, infectious disease that, if left untreated, can progress to a very serious condition that causes mental disturbances and other serious problems.

Obviously, you do not want to be affected in any of these ways, nor do you want your loved ones to be negatively affected. For these reasons, you should absolutely enlist the help of a tick spraying service to prevent ticks and take other preventative measures against them.

Keeping Your Trees Healthy

About a year ago, I realized that our front trees were starting to look a little funny. Some of the leaves were wilted, but we weren't anywhere near autumn. The bark on the trunk also seemed to be rotting away, which was frustrating and disappointing. Fortunately, a friend of mine told me to call a professional arborist for help. He came out, inspected the trees, and injected some special pesticides into the trunk. Within a few months, they started to look a lot better. Our arborist also trimmed our trees to reduce the weight load on the branches and to improve their shape. Check out this blog for information about tree trimming.
