5 Tips To Make The Most Of Tree Pruning On Your Property

Posted on: 29 December 2022

Tree pruning can be a great investment for your property to help you feel more in control of your landscape and to give your home greater curb appeal. Tree pruning services work to make your property more sound by examining each of your trees and then pruning them as needed based on the type of trees you have, their current condition, and what your goal for your trees is.

Here are five tips to get the most out of tree pruning on your property.

Know what you want your trees to do as a result

What results do you want in your tree pruning efforts? Do you want your trees to produce more fruit? Are you after more shade, or do you want decorative trees? Whatever your tree needs are, share them with your tree pruning specialist. They will prune your trees according to your desires as much as possible.

Know how often you should have tree pruning done

Tree pruning will affect the health and vitality of your trees in big, effective ways. Knowing when tree pruning needs to be done on your property gives you healthy and beautiful trees that are less stressed and more able to grow naturally.

Know what healthy and unhealthy trees look like

Do you know the difference between a dead and dying tree or a healthy growing one? Tree pruning not only makes trees look better, but it can also keep them healthier as well. If a tree has dead or dying branches, they need to be pruned off. If your trees need to be topped to make them safer, then this can be done as well. Healthy trees simply need to have their suckers cut off to keep them growing well.

Know what your tree species are

What tree species you have in your yard will determine how they are pruned and when they are pruned and can give you lots of insight as to when to call your tree pruning services company. If you don't know the tree species in your yard, your tree specialist will tell you.

Know how much tree pruning costs

You'd be surprised at how affordable tree pruning can be. If you know the cost of this service, you can be more likely to have it done more often. Your tree pruning specialist will charge by the tree, by the hour, or even by the service. A consultation will teach you more.

Keeping Your Trees Healthy

About a year ago, I realized that our front trees were starting to look a little funny. Some of the leaves were wilted, but we weren't anywhere near autumn. The bark on the trunk also seemed to be rotting away, which was frustrating and disappointing. Fortunately, a friend of mine told me to call a professional arborist for help. He came out, inspected the trees, and injected some special pesticides into the trunk. Within a few months, they started to look a lot better. Our arborist also trimmed our trees to reduce the weight load on the branches and to improve their shape. Check out this blog for information about tree trimming.
